Artist Bio

Sky Roehl was born and raised in Fairbanks, Alaska, where her family spent a large amount of time fishing, hunting, foraging, and growing their own foods.  This fostered a strong bond of respect and appreciation for the environment and land within her.  Sky earned her Bachelors of Art at Dartmouth College in 2018, and worked in their Art Department as a Studio Intern for a year before applying to the University of Alaska Fairbanks.  There she earned her Masters in Native Arts, graduating in the spring of 2024, and still currently works on campus as an Adjunct Instructor.

Whether working with a mixture of recycled and raw materials in her sculptures or drawing with mixed mediums, Sky applies traditional and modern artistic practices and skills. While drawing on her connection with the land and wildlife, she often emphasizes the importance of showing respect for all living beings and the environment we share.
